Apart from the destruction mainly from greed that we cause wherever we go, and the licence our arrogance gives us to imagine we can be cruel to and torture the other life with which we share our planet, I would say it is in thinking that woman is the cause of mans fall from grace.brbrEver since Adam and Eve, man has blamed woman, and it has taken years for her to gain any human rights fairly universally! Look at it this way Adam took a bite out of the forbidden fruit and said he did so because Eve tempted him firstly, why was he such a feeble wimp as to do something God forbade, just because Eve asked him? And secondly, what a telltale he was when God asked him why!brbrThe secondclass status of woman in the western world has stemmed largely from that premise, especially as dictated by the Church, and women have been treated as chattels, regarded as of lesser intelligence than men and have endured countless humiliations since then. With, of course, some exceptions, like Eleanor of Aquitaine and a few remarkable mediaeval ladies, Elizabeth I, etc.brbrI cant talk about other cultures, but this has always puzzled me. And, by the way, I am a Christian.
